LISKEARD WELCOME NEW COACH TO THE CLUB

After 3 years of searching, Liskeard Netball Club finally have a new coach in the form of Rudi Britz!

Rudi has over 6 years netball coaching experience, both in England and South Africa, and is level 2 qualified.

He joins LNC after leaving Bodmin Netball Club where in the first year of coaching, managed to get their first team promoted to division 1. Let’s hope this success can rub off on LNC as well!

Lucy Smale, Club Chairman and player for LNC says, “We are really excited to have a coach for the new season, we can’t wait to get started and to see what experience and knowledge Rudi can bring to us. As a Club we have progressed well in recent years without a formal coaching arrangement, but we hope that by having Rudi on board we will achieve even more. We would all like to give him a huge welcome to the club and look forward to a successful year.”

LNC in need of a coach….

Liskeard Netball Club had another successful run during the 2009/10 season. Tigers, who were promoted from division three to division two last season, managed to keep a hold in the table by finishing a respectable 6TH after a challenging season. Panthers had their most successful season to date finishing 3RD and gaining promotion to division 5 and Cougars fought a tough battle but ended the season well finishing 8TH.

The players have enjoyed a short break over the summer months but are now ready for the start of the new season, hopefully with a new Coach alongside them. Previously, Sophie Hocking, who plays GA for Tigers, had been coaching all three teams as well as playing for the division 2 side. She says “I would love to continue as player/coach but unfortunately my other commitments mean I am unable to do so. We as a club have really progressed in the last couple of years and it would be such a shame not to be able to continue with a coach next season.”

The club is looking for anyone; male or female, with an interest in coaching who has knowledge of drills, fitness and tactical play. Training takes place every Tuesday night at Lux Park from 8.30pm-10pm. Home games are on Thursday nights, and away games scheduled throughout the week. The new coach would not be expected to attend all games and not necessarily every training session.

Lucy Smale, a long standing member of the club, says “We are a great group of girls who really want to go forward. We have a lot of fun but also take Netball seriously and we are all looking to progress to the next level in our game. Sophie has done such a good job in the last couple of years, but we now need that extra push to have someone solely concentrating on coaching and developing all three teams individually.”
