St Just 13 - 47 Tigers
Starting Line Up: GS Christina Broad, GA Sophie Hocking, WA Jo Glossop, C Charlotte Randall, WD Lauren Finch, GD Holly Lemon, GK Vicki Hastings. Res Kay Barker
Tigers were without Kirstie Chappell and Lucy Smale for this fixture so Christina Broad filled in at shooter and new to the club Vicki Hastings stepped in at GK.
St Just were quick out of blocks going 2 ahead in the opening few minutes but Tigers soon found their feet and began to take control of the game, working the ball well around the court and taking the first quarter 13 - 5.
The second quarter was dominated by the Tigers with both shooters on top form, more than doubling their score. Lemon and Finch gelled well together in defense, working hard to keep the GA out of the circle, and with the help of Hastings’ numerous interceptions only one goal was conceded, taking the score to 27-6 at half time.
The beginning of the third quarter saw the Tigers lose their composure, and with some great shooting from St Just they began to narrow the gap. However, Tigers soon got their heads back and with great mid-court play from Randall and Glossop, teamed with some fantastic long range shots from Broad, Tigers won the quarter by 9 goals to 4.
The final quarter saw more great play from everyone, especially Randall who disrupted St Just picking off the loose ball to give the Tigers more chances at goal. Through great team work with yet another new line up, the Tigers deservedly won the game 47 goals to 13. Sophie Hocking and Christina Broad were commended by the umpire for their shooting, jointly taking the Player of the Match award.
Cougars just miss out to Panthers in an exciting meeting of the Liskeard teams!
