Panthers kick of their season with an impressive home win against Connect 4

Liskeard Panthers 75 - 5 Connect [4]

Newly promoted Panthers’ first game of the season was at home against Redruth based Connect 4.  The new line up looked exciting with GS Christina Broad, GA Amie Hoskin, C Kerry Elliott, WD Debbie Drinkle, GD Vicky Hastings & GK Kay Barker. Unfortunately panthers’ newest member, Emma Dunn, was absent due to illness, but Cougars captain Emma Dalton and fresh from her honeymoon Erin Beale confidently stepped in to cover the WA position.

Panthers went out strong, quickly bonding as a team and taking the first quarter 19-1.

Good communication from the team continued through the second quarter and with the fantastic defensive partnership of Hastings and Barker not conceding a single goal, the team ended the first half with a 34 goal lead.

Panthers let a few goals slip in the third, but some hard work in the centre court from Elliott and good use of the wing by Beale meant quick precise passes to the shooting circle with an energetic and positive partnership by Hoskin and Broad successfully converting almost all attempts at goal and the home side again added substantially to their lead.

A positive team talk from new captain Amie Hoskin in the final break carried the team to their strongest quarter of the game and they eventually won the game 75-5, a fantastic start to the new season.

Christina Broad was awarded player of the match for her impressive shooting and movement in the circle.
